“Thalia” was established in 1872 on the banks of the mighty murray river 120km’s from the murray mouth. Home to the Jaensch family who were one of the early pioneering families to settle in the Murray Bridge area. A rich and colourful history is associated with the property. Currenty “Thalia” consists of 580 acres of land in 250-300 mm rainfall . 75ac of a possible 275ac is irrigated, this is used to grow lucerne to produce rolls, small squares and chaff for the fodder market. Today “Thalia” is still owned by the Jaensch family ,Matt Jaensch and partner Kristy Kowald together with sons Lewis (8) and Hamish (2) are the current farm managers and principals of Big River murray grey stud
